There had been some speculation for a while that Robert Downey Jr. might not return to the iconic role of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, after the third film in the franchise and the massive paychecks Marvel has had to write for the guy, but it’s now been confirmed that RDJ will be stepping back into the role for the next two Avengers flicks. Joss Whedon had gone on record to state that he wouldn’t make an Avengers 2 without RDJ as Tony Stark, so I guess that’s taken care of. Yay.
Currently, there are no plans for a fourth Iron Man film, but given the huge success of the first three installments and the importance of the character in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, I would be very surprised if we didn’t see more Iron Man before the third Avengers.
After reaching the quota for tweets with the hashtag #CoulsonLives, Marvel has unleashed the extended trailer for their upcoming television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Enjoy:
ABC has signed Joss Whedon’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for full season this fall. I don’t think there was really any doubt that it would happen, but now we’ve got confirmation and a teaser trailer for the upcoming show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show follows the events of last years The Avengers and promises the return of Agent Phil Coulson. There’s been a lot of hubbub about how he lived after he was supposedly killed in The Avengers, but that’s a mystery that will surely be solved this fall when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comes to the small screen this fall on ABC. Until then, just know that Coulson Lives.
Upcoming sequel to 2011’s Thor finally has a trailer. The Dark World is coming to cinemas this fall and will be the second film in Marvel’s Phase Two after May’s Iron Man 3 release.
