Arrested Development Season 4 available on Netflix

It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve finally got the fourth season of Arrested Development available exclusively on Netflix.  The show was cancelled by Fox back in 2006 due to low viewership despite critical acclaim.  Fans have been clamoring for a continuation of the comedy for years and it’s now a reality as the 15-season is now online for Netflix subscribers to enjoy.  I will be posting a review as soon as I get a chance to enjoy the continuing Bluth saga.

Remedy’s Quantum Break will blend gaming and television [Update]

QuantumBreak

Microsoft has been pushing original content for its Xbox television service, having announced Halo: The Television Series for Xbox One, and it is continuing this trend with the reveal of the Quantum Break television series to accompany the release of the game.  I don’t know how I missed this original announcement, but Remedy and Microsoft intend to “blur the line between gaming and TV by integrating drama and gameplay into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience.”  The game and show are said to influence each other which suggests a persistent world for Quantum Break.

Currently, SyFy’s Defiance is attempting to do what Quantum Break is promising with a television show set in the same world of the recently released MMO.  E3 will hopefully shed more light on Microsoft and Remedy’s plans for the future and give us a better look of what to expect when Quantum Break, both the game and the show, release on Xbox One.

Update:  From Quantum Break‘s official Facebook page:   “The actions you take, and the choices you make, shape your experience as the narrative unfolds. As you play, a personalized ‘director’s cut’ of the show is created just for you, based on the decisions you make during the game.”  This suggests that players will be presented with episodes of the television show altered to show how their choices have affected the world.  So, my Quantum Break television experience might differ greatly from yours depending on how you play the game.  This is pretty incredible and ambitious and I’m looking forward to seeing more from this property.

Star Wars Rebels coming to Disney XD Fall 2014

star-wars-logo

Eager Star Wars fans looking for the next big thing from the property won’t have to wait until the 2015 release of Star Wars Episode VII as a new animated series will be coming to Disney XD in fall of 2014.  Set in the time between Episodes III and IV, Rebels will chronicle the “a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knight.”  Given this description, it’s safe to assume the series also follows the events of The Force Unleashed.  While the game may have received middling reviews, it’s hard to dispute the fact that it told an incredible story surrounding the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

Little else is known about the series, but it has been confirmed that several key people from the previous animated Star Wars series (The Clone Wars) will be working on Rebels.  These include Dave Filoni, Kilian Plunkett, and Joel Aron.

Rebels will debut on Disney XD with a 1-hour premiere in the fall of 2014.

Zombieland: The Series dead after pilot

Amazon’s attempt to continue the story of Zombieland as a series has failed.  Zombieland: The Series will not be picked up, likely due to all the negative reactions surrounding the pilot.  I wasn’t a fan and was actually preparing a review of the first and only episode of Zombieland: The Series, but decided to stop after realizing that the only sentence I wrote (“Zombieland: The Series is a soulless disappointment, but it’s free.”) completely sums up the series and would hardly be worthy of a post.  You can see the failed experiment yourself for free on Amazon.

Star Trek Enterprise looking to Netflix for a Season 5 comeback

It’s been eight years since Star Trek Enterprise (ENT) came to a studio determined end with its cancellation, but that hasn’t stopped Rob Bolivar and Doug Drexler from looking to Netflix for the future of the series.  Hoping to revive the show for a fifth season, they’ve launched a campaign to bring the series back to life on Netflix similar to the upcoming revival of Arrested Development.  Series creator Brannon Braga stated that Netflix could possibly revive the series if a revival campaign received enough support.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Extended Trailer

After reaching the quota for tweets with the hashtag #CoulsonLives, Marvel has unleashed the extended trailer for their upcoming television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Enjoy:

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Teaser

ABC has signed Joss Whedon’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for full season this fall.  I don’t think there was really any doubt that it would happen, but now we’ve got confirmation and a teaser trailer for the upcoming show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The show follows the events of last years The Avengers and promises the return of Agent Phil Coulson.  There’s been a lot of hubbub about how he lived after he was supposedly killed in The Avengers, but that’s a mystery that will surely be solved this fall when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comes to the small screen this fall on ABC.  Until then, just know that Coulson Lives.

Finals Week: Coffee Break!

It’s that time of year again, students… finals time.  You spend your days thinking about studying but do everything in your power to try to avoid that dreadful task.  Each moment spent procrastinating means a later night propped over a book illuminated underneath the dim glow of the moon.  Yes, it is hell, and it’s a hell we willingly put ourselves through.  So, since it’s inevitable that you’ll be up late and in desperate need of caffeine as you prepare for the finals, why not take a much needed coffee break to reenergize?

Zombieland: The Series Trailer–Pilot on Amazon

While it’s disappointing that we may never get that much desired sequel to 2009’s fantastic horror comedy Zombieland, we can be further disappointed by Amazon’s attempts to continue the adventures of our survivors in their serialized continuation:  Zombieland: The Series.  The first episode is currently available on Amazon for free, but it looks terrible.  I can’t speak certainly whether it actually is or not, since I haven’t taken advantage of the free video, but the trailer below doesn’t really make me feel comforted that the property is in able hands.  The cast of characters is the same, supposedly, as those in the films, but the new actors portraying them seem to have lost a lot of what gave those characters their appeal, if this trailer is representative of the final product.
