Pokemon X & Y add new Pokemon type

I know I’m a little behind on the Nintendo Direct stuff, but I’m a busy guy.  Not really, but that’s the excuse I’m sticking with.

In their ND E3 conference, they unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming Pokemon XY versions that showed off the games’ new fairy type.  The type will be strong against dragon type Pokemon, an update Game Freak hopes will help bring a little more balance to their monster collection/fighting games.

In addition to the new Pokemon type is a new mode in the game called “Pokemon-Amie” which makes virtual pets out of your Pokemon.  You’ll be able to bond with your pocket monsters Nintendogs style by feeding them, petting them, and even mimicking them with your movements captured by the 3DS’ front-facing camera.  I’ve never really been big about all the features they’ve added over the years that are like the talent show and even the Dream World, but this seems like something I’ll totally spend some time with.  It seems much more worthwhile than dressing your Pokemon up for scripted stageplays.  What I’m saying is, I love catching and leveling Pokemon, I hate dressing them up, but I’ll totally pet the shit out of them.

Star Wars Battlefront

At their E3 conference, EA brought DICE out to tease us all with the much desired third installment in the Star Wars Battlefront franchise.  The teaser shows little more than snowspeeder and the foot of an Imperial Walker, but, hey, it’s exciting news!

PS4 design unveiled

A first for Sony, the PS4’s design managed to stay under wraps until today’s E3 reveal.  Honestly, it’s kinda ugly.  I think both systems this coming gaming generation are pretty unspectacular in their physical appearance, but, hey, it’s the games that matter, right?  It kinda looks like a smaller, slantier Xbox One with a cutout in the center.  Image below:

Sony’s PS4 has no used game restrictions

Your move, Microsoft.

The announcement that Sony’s next system will not change the way we play used or borrowed games was met with nonstop deafening applause.  Promising gamers that the system will not have restrictions on used games and that we’ll be able to borrow and sell games at our leisure, the PlayStation 4 seems to be the game console that people were expecting.

Today, Sony proved that the future of gaming doesn’t need to be this dark, dismal place where people are limited on what they can do with their property.  Hooray.

Additionally, the PlayStation 4 doesn’t need to do online checks with disc-based games.  It’s been reported that the Xbox One will require an internet connection at least once every 24 hours to verify ownership of games.  PS4 does not have this restriction.  Another win for Sony gamers.

Mad Max coming to PS4 (Update: Trailer)

A game based on the Mad Max property is headed to Sony’s PS4.  The system will have exclusive content for the game.  There was a very Mad Max teaser with the announcement which is now posted below:

Mad Max is coming next year and will be available on current and next gen systems (minus Nintendo’s consoles) as well as PC.

Tom Clancy’s The Division announced

At their press conference today, Ubisoft closed with the announcement of a new Tom Clancy branded game:  The Division.  A third person shooter set in a world torn apart by a pandemic.  The game was introduced with a teaser and an intriguing gameplay demo, both posted below.

Watch_Dogs E3 2013 Trailer

The more I see of this game, the more excited I get for it… and I’m really damn excited.  This trailer shows off the seedy human trafficking side of the fictional Chicago.  Crazy stuff ensues.  Just watch.
