Super Smash Bros heading to Wii U and 3DS
Nintendo revealed in their Nintendo Direct E3 show that they’ve got two Super Smash Bros. games in development right now. One for the Wii U and one for the 3DS. The game also brings in new challenger Mega Man.
Pokemon X & Y add new Pokemon type
I know I’m a little behind on the Nintendo Direct stuff, but I’m a busy guy. Not really, but that’s the excuse I’m sticking with.
In their ND E3 conference, they unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming Pokemon X & Y versions that showed off the games’ new fairy type. The type will be strong against dragon type Pokemon, an update Game Freak hopes will help bring a little more balance to their monster collection/fighting games.
In addition to the new Pokemon type is a new mode in the game called “Pokemon-Amie” which makes virtual pets out of your Pokemon. You’ll be able to bond with your pocket monsters Nintendogs style by feeding them, petting them, and even mimicking them with your movements captured by the 3DS’ front-facing camera. I’ve never really been big about all the features they’ve added over the years that are like the talent show and even the Dream World, but this seems like something I’ll totally spend some time with. It seems much more worthwhile than dressing your Pokemon up for scripted stageplays. What I’m saying is, I love catching and leveling Pokemon, I hate dressing them up, but I’ll totally pet the shit out of them.

A Link to the Past Sequel Headed to 3DS this Holiday
Nintendo has announced via Nintendo Direct that a new Zelda title set in the world established in SNES classic A Link to the Past will be coming to the 3DS this holiday season. The game features 3D visuals presented in a classic top-down fashion. The effects available on the 3DS will give a new dimension to puzzle solving by enabling a better perspective on environment heights and things of that nature. The 3D visuals won’t be the only thing changing how puzzles are done with Link having the ability to become a 2D painting on a wall to work his way around certain environmental obstacles. Batman: Arkham Origins Announced
It’s official: a prequel to the Arkham games has been announced. The game is set to take place before both Arkham Assylum and Arkham City and is being developed by Warner Bros. Montreal. The first two installments of the franchise were developed by Rocksteady Games. This change shouldn’t drastically change the property as WB Montreal is familiar with the Arkham franchise having ported Arkham City to the WiiU. Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on current-gen home consoles and PC on October 25, 2013.

In addition to Arkham Origins, an additional prequel game is being developed for 3DS and Vita. Titled Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, this portable entry in the franchise will take place after the events of its home console counterpart. Blackgate is being developed by Armature Studios, which was formed by staff from Nintendo’s Retro Studio (developer of the Metroid Prime series and Donkey Kong Country Returns). The game will be a 2.5D Metroid-vania style game and is set to release alongside Arkham Origins.
